The IFAD President met with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung on 15 January 2008. A signing ceremony for the Agreement on the establishment of IFAD Representation in VietNam was signed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. First Deputy Minister Pham Binh Minh, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Vice Minister Tran Xuan Ha, Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Governor of IFAD, Minister Cao Duc Phat, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) were present.

Separate meetings were held with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Finance, Vu Van Ninh and Vice Minister of Planning and Investment, Cao Viet Sinh. All Ministries were supportive of enhanced collaboration with IFAD. The IFAD President was awarded with the Medal for Agriculture and Rural Development in VietNam.
